Last year, on the 1st of March we flew to Tenerife to visit our Spanish friends from the Erasmus student exchange programme. It was an unforgettable experience, which we will tell you about in this article.
The hosts welcomed us very nicely and took us to their homes. On the second day, we woke up to see the school, get to know the participants of the project, and go for a hike in the Anaga Mountains.
Then, we ate breakfast at school with our newly met
friends. Later that day, we learnt about apps that will help us with our
education. In the afternoon we went for a walk in the mountains to experience the
beautiful Canarian environment, and finally, in the evening we visited the city
of La Laguna.
The third day of our stay in Tenerife was a very
productive day. We learnt about apps and programmes that could help us with
learning and making it a lot easier. For example, we got to know things like
Powtoon or Padlet. We managed to make some short videos about how we can use
technology safely and how we can use it daily.
After some work we had lunch in the school canteen. And finally, we went to the beach. But obviously it was not the casual one. We went to the beautiful Las Teresitas Beach!
When we come back to Santa Cruz, we had a small tour
through the city centre. The whole week the weather was perfect, so we could do
these things every day. And we actually did!
Next day of the
project, which was Wednesday, was probably our favourite. We met with other
countries early in the morning and we were going to spend almost a whole day in
a beautiful water park called “Siam Park”!
After having
the time of our lives, we went to visit Siam Mall Shopping Centre, where we had
something to eat and we bought some souvenirs.
We came back to Santa Cruz very tired, but even more
excited!
On Thursday we
started the day with some learning about Google apps like Hangout, Chat or eTwinning.
They can really improve your way of keeping in touch with your family or
friends that are far away from you, but they can also help you with simple and
daily things. For example, they can help you with making school projects so you
can make them with your classmates but everybody can stay at their place. They
are really useful (especially nowadays during the pandemic).
The same day, we went on the next trip, but this time we were going to see the Mount Teide Volcano. Which was a fantastic experience!
We were
supposed to visit Puerto de la Cruz, but while we were heading to see the city,
we stopped to have lunch at a typical Canarian restaurant called “Guachinche”.
We tried some special meals like traditional sausages, white grilled cheese with
regional sauces like “mojo rojo” and “mojo verde”, and fruits.
After having this delicious food, we arrived in Puerto de la Cruz, where some of us saw the black sand beach for the first time. We walked a bit and we spent our afternoon on the charming coast.
The last day of
our project started with a meeting with all countries and technology workshop
about Google Sites. Then we were presenting our final videos that we had been
working on and improving them for a whole week.
Unfortunately, it was our last hours with some
teachers and some students as well. We got our diplomas and we took the last
photos with the whole Erasmus group.
After the farewell we went to our host brothers and sisters to spend the
rest of our time together. In this place we want to say a huge thank you to our
hosts for everything they made for us for this whole week, because you did a fantastic
job and you made us feel just like at home.
This week full of fun and new experiences was
absolutely worth it! We met amazing people, saw a gorgeous island and had
really great time. If there is an opportunity in the future, we will definitely
would repeat that trip. We are also looking forward to seeing our hosts coming
to Poland to get to know our country.
the best experience ever! We really enjoyed it! we'll never forget it:) Spain, thank you once again!
